Blast off and brace for turbulence with this wild ride through the life of a U.S. flight attendant. With the perfect mix of informative writing, real-world examples, and beautifully written lyrical prose, Straight Guy in the Queer Skies is sure to join the short list of compulsory works for frequent fliers, travel enthusiasts, or anyone considering a career in the sky. From the flight attendant interview-not what you think-to crew juice and pill shopping in Argentina, Brian Easley walks readers through the inner-workings of the profession so cleverly that, in the end, you're sure to feel as if you've already completed your first six months "on the line."

Straight Guy in the Queer Skies Brian Easley eBook

I am generally not a fan of flight attendant books. As one myself, friends have often asked me over the years "I've got this book, [pick a title], of flight attendant stories. Is this real? You've got to read it." And they always pass them to me for my reaction, and I can never, never get through them. The ones I've tried we all so exaggerated and cringe-worthy. It's not that ridiculous stuff doesn't happen. It does. All the time. But not *that* level of crazy, not all to the same person.

STRAIGHT GUY is the first one I've read beginning to end and was eager to read more. It's pretty straight about putting his tales into context (not flawlessly, but for the most part) and that honesty really got me on board for the ride. Best of all: It's a spanking fresh angle on the topic and more than a collection of in-flight stories. It's an open letter to a STRAIGHT MALE new-hire flight attendant about starting out and getting through the career, how to handle yourself and what's in store - warts and rewards. That's like one unicorn telling another unicorn what it's like to exist!

I joke, but I have often wondered what it's like for them to be a "double" minority, and STRAIGHT GUY expresses it well. It features a couple of stories that I would be way too shy to share about myself! But they sure make for good reading and make you feel like you really get to know him. And best of all I laughed out loud - a lot. Not because it's outrageous, but because it's so true.

Straight Guy in the Queer Skies Brian Easley eBook Reviews

Reading this book you see yourself in these crazy, real situations next to the author. There are many insights to flight attendants life. And also, from a passenger perspective, there are a few things to consider (i.e. Will travel with my pwn blanket from now on)
With over 20 years as an SMS (straight male stewardess) this book captures the unique perspective that can be appreciated so well by those of us in the inflight service world. Passengers and students of humanity alike will find this an insightful and enjoyable read. Great job Brian!
I have a relative who did that for 15 years and I never knew what she went through at times. This is a great book looking at it from the eyes of one.
I work with the author and his stories are hilarious and true. A few of our new hires have started in the airline industry because of this book.
You will learn some cool inside the airline industry details. Portions of the book ramble on and are repetitive.
My copy should arrive this week! I'm halfway through the version, and it's really good.

Easley is an exciting new talent with a great voice that's easy and natural. His keen observations highlight just how queer life can be, whether in an airplane or on the ground, and his insights on human nature are humble, intelligent and honest. The engaging anecdotes are vivid and easy to relate to, and the prose seems effortlessly wrought, achieving an economic yet effective balance of candid humor and sincerity.

If you've ever been a passenger or employee on a commercial plane, chances are you will tear through this addictive book once you get started.

Highly recommended!
Excellent book! So factual in certain aspects of a career as a flight attendant. The satire mixed with the seriousness is a perfect dynamic to captivate anyone reading this book. You hardly know what to expect next and it keeps you reading. Full of surprises, important information, and humorous stories this is a great buy to anyone inside and outside of the industry. This is what FA's go through on a normal basis!
